Rare and first recored in the Outer Hebrides in 2011. A member of a complex of three sub-species: Edinburgh Pug in Scotland and northern England, Freyer's Pug E. intricata arceuthata in southern England and Mere's Pug E. intricata hibernica in western Ireland. Adults fly from May to June

Juniper Juniperus communis and members of the Cypress family Cupressaceae are the larval foodplants
