There are two records from South Uist of this late flying species (September - December) which is associated with woodland and gardens and feeds on heather (Calluna)

The larvae feed on the flowers, leaves and seeds of Poplar (Populus), Aspen (Populus tremula) and Ash (Fraxinus excelsior)
