Frequently recorded across the archipelago with a bias towards the southern islands. On the wing from February to April in woodland, scrub and gardens. The larval food-plants are numerous trees and shrubs. Quite variable in colour but the subterminal row of black dots is characteristic. Some forms can bear superficial resemblance to Mottled Umber (Erannis defoliaria).
