Scarce with virtually all records from South Uist. On the wing from June to August in broadleaved woodland, hedgerows and gardens. The larvae feed on many herbaceous and woody plants such as buttercups (Ranunculus spp.), blackthorn (Prunus spinosa) and hawthorn (Crataegus monogyna).
