Epiblema costipunctana   (Haworth, 1811)

Ragwort Root-borer

There are 38 records on NBN: 15 from South Uist, one from Coll and the rest around the Aberdeenshire coast or nearby. As the food-plant is common, this is a strange distribution and suggests under-recording. On the wing from May to August over grassland, croft-land, coastal areas and scrubby habitats. The larval food-plant is common ragwort (Senecio jacobaea).
