Rare and first recored in the Outer Hebrides in 2011. A member of a complex of three sub-species: Edinburgh Pug in Scotland and northern England, Freyer's Pug (E. intricata arceuthata) in southern England and Mere's Pug( E. intricata hibernica) in western Ireland. Adults fly from May to June. Juniper (Juniperus communis) and members of the cypress family (Cupressaceae) are the larval foodplants
