Agrotis exclamationis  (Linnaeus, 1758)

Heart & Dart

A common species but mainly in the southern islands. The main flight period is May to August over lowland crofts, machair and gardens. The larvae feed on a wide range of herbaceous plants including plantains (Plantago spp.).
