Hydriomena furcata  (Thunberg, 1784)

An extremely variable moth in terms of its colouration with some strikingly beautiful wing-patterns. Flying from July to September, mainly in woodland. The larvae use several trees and shrubs as food-plants, including heather (Calluna vulgaris), hazel (Corylus avellana), alder (Alnus glutinosa) and bilberry (Vaccinium myrtillus).
