Korscheltellus fusconebulosa   (De Geer, 1778)

Map-winged Swift

A very common species across Scotland including the islands. Found in moorland particularly associated with bracken (Pteridium aquilinum). The larvae feed on the nutrient-poor roots of bracken and grasses and possibly herbaceous plants as well. A primitive moth with a two-year life cycle. Adults are on the wing from late May to early August.
