Rare - first recorded on the Outer Hebrides in 2009 from Benbecula. The flight period is July to September where they fly weakly in morning sunshine, later resting low down on grass stems. Most specimens are a shade of brown but pale specimens are occasionally found (see MBGBI vol.2, pl. 9: 15). They rarely, if ever, come to light.
