Xylena vetusta (Hübner, [1813])
Red Sword-grass
Frequently recorded across the islands. It overwinters as an adult and can be found from September to October and again in April. It can be found in damp and boggy moorland and heath. The larvae feed on sub-shrubs and herbaceous plants including heather (Calluna vulgaris), yellow iris (Iris pseudacorus) and bog-myrtle (Myrica gale).
