Family: Tortricidae   Checklist Number: 49.031

Zelotherses paleana   (Hübner, 1793)

Timothy Tortrix

Rare this far north and first recorded on the Outer Hebrides in 2010. A larva found on Lewis in 2024 is the most northly record for the British Isles. Prior to that, there were no records for northern Scotland, Orkney or Shetland north of Inverness (data from NBN). There are similar species but the orangey-yellow suffusion on the head, thorax and base of wings is characteristic. Adults are active from June to August.
