Triphosa dubitata  (Linnaeus, 1758)

Tissue

A rare species which was first recorded on the Outer Hebrides in 2010. A partial migrant, which accounts for the Outer Hebridean and Orkney records. However, recent research in southern Scotland has found that overwintering in typical herald (Scoliopteryx libatrix) sites and also found mating. The food-plants are buckthorn (Rhamnus catharticus) and alder buckthorn (Frangula alnus), which are not found in the islands, so breeding is unlikely. Active from August to September.
