Speyeria aglaja (Linnaeus, 1758)

Dark Green Fritillary

Common in the southern islands with an increasing number of sitings farther north. On the wing from June to August, they lay their eggs near the food-plants, violets (Viola spp.). Once the eggs hatch the larvae immediately hibernate until the spring.
