Arran Carpet
An uncommon species which is endemic in north-west Scotland and the Hebrides. It can be confused with dark marbled carpet (Dysstroma citrata) and common marbled carpet (Dysstroma truncata). Found from July to August. The status of arran carpet has been changed and it is now classified as a subspecies of Dysstroma truncata. It is a race or ecotype which behaves as a species on some Scottish islands. Heather (Calluna vulgaris) and bilberry (Vaccinium myrtillus) are the preferred food-plants.
