Buff-tip
A large, striking moth that favours open woodland, hedgerows and gardens. It flies from May - July and was first recorded on South Uist in 2011 with records since from Harris and Barra. A wide range of trees may be utilised by the larva, especially sallow, birch, oaks and hazel Corylus avellana. Cateprillars were found on South Uist in 2014
