Abrostola triplasia (Linnaeus, 1758)
Dark Spectacle
The main stronghold in Scotland for this species is along the Solway. It is sparse farther north and west. The single South Uist find in 2010 was thought to be a short-hop migrant, however, six more were trapped in July 2024, so maybe they are colonising. On the wing from May to August over a wide range of habitats. The larval food-plant is stinging nettles (Urtica dioica).
