Autumnal Rustic

A common and striking moth found across the islands. On the wing from August to September over moorland, heathland, grassland and machair. The larvae feed on herbaceous and woody plants such as heather (Calluna vulgaris), bedstraws (Galium spp.), willows (Salix spp.) and birches (Betula spp.).
