Conistra vaccinii (Linnaeus, 1761)

Just one record from South Uist in October 2009. A widespread mainland species flying in the autumn and overwintering, active on mild nights. The flight period is from September to May. The larval food-plants include hawthorns (Crataegus spp.), oaks (Quercus spp.), blackthorn (Prunus spinosa), downy birch (Betula pubescens) and docks (Rumex spp.).
