Pearly Underwing

A rare migrant appearing in September and October. Can occur anywhere and comes to light and sugar. The larvae feed upon a range of plants such as dandelion (Taraxacum spp.), docks (Rumex spp.), clovers (Trifolium spp.), and cabbages (Brassica spp.). It’s unlikely to be found breeding in the Outer Hebrides.
