A rare migrant appearing in September and October. Can occur anywhere and comes to light and sugar. Larvae feed upon a range of plants such as dandelion (Taraxacum) species, docks (Rumex), clovers (Trifolium), and cabbages (Brassica). Unlikely to be found breeding on the Outer Hebrides
