Acronicta psi  (Linnaeus, 1758)

Grey Dagger

A woodland species so a restricted range in the Outer Hebrides. Most records have come from the woods on Lewis. A larva was found on Barra in 2016. Not a fussy eater and can be found on many broadleaved species and shrubs including blackthorn (Prunus spinosa), and hawthorn (Crataegus monogyna).
