Micropterix aureatella (Scopoli, 1763)
Yellow-barred Pollen-moth
A tiny, primitive, moth; the adult flying during May and July and easily overlooked. They possess working mandibles and feed upon pollen from a variety of sources. Little is known about the minute larvae. Widespread in Britain but only two records for the Outer Hebrides as of 2024.
