Family: Micropterigida Checklist Number: 1.005
Micropterix calthella (Linnaeus, 1761)
Plain Pollen-moth
The pollen-moths depicted on our website are ubiquitous in Britain but rarely recorded on the Outer Hebrides. This species was first netted on South Uist in June 2013 with a subsequent record from Lewis in June 2017. They are on the wing in mid-summer and frequent herbaceous plants such as buttercups (Ranunculus spp.) and marsh marigold (Caltha palustris).
