Glyphipterix forsterella   (Fabricius, 1781)

Woodland Sedge-moth

Just a handful of records, all from South Uist and Eriskay, as of 2024. Similar, though slightly smaller than Glyphipterix haworthana, G. forsterella is best distinguished by the white spot within the black apical spot. G. haworthana has an all-black apical spot. The larvae feed on the seeds of sedges (Carex spp.). The habitat is woodland glades and the flight period is from May to July.
