Belted Beauty
A nationally scarce species, largely restricted to coastal machair and dunes. The females are flightless and can be seen on sunny days on fence posts from March to May. The larval food-plants include bird's-foot trefoil (Lotus corniculatus), kidney vetch (Anthyllis vulneraria) and several other machair species.
