Philedonides lunana (Thunberg, 1784)
Northern Heath Tortrix
A rare species first recorded on South Uist in 2015 with just one more subsequent record from the same site. On the wing from March to May and found in acid moorland and boggy ground. Several low-growing species are used as food-plants including bilberry (Vaccinium myrtillus), bog-myrtle (Myrica gale) and even conifers.
