Mother of Pearl

This is one of the larger micro-moths that truly deserves its common name of Mother of Pearl. There have been just four records, all from South Uist between July – early August. The caterpillars feed on a range of plants which includes Common Nettle Urtica dioica, goosefoots Chenopodium species and oraches Atriplex species
