Spilosoma lutea (Hufnagel, 1766)
Buff Ermine
A common species in Scotland but with a strong westerly bias. The flight period is from May to July in a wide range of urban habitats. The larval feed on a large range of herbaceous plants including stinging nettles (Urtica dioica).
