Chloroclysta siterata   (Hufnagel, 1767)

Red-green Carpet

Most records of Red-green Carpet are from South Uist with a very small number also from Lewis. Trapping has shown this scarce species as flying between 30 August and 16 November. Only females survive the winter with spring records between 17 April and 5 June. Increased moth trapping may well show this species to be more widespread.
Favours areas containing at least some broad-leaved trees where it exploits species including oak (Quercus robur), birches (Betula) and rowan (Sorbus aucuparia).
