Family: Geometridae Checklist Number: 70.095
Chloroclysta siterata (Hufnagel, 1767)
Red-green Carpet
Most records are from South Uist with a very small number from Lewis. Trapping has shown this scarce species as flying between late August to November. Only females survive the winter appearing in spring from April to June. Increased moth trapping may well show this species to be more widespread. It favours areas containing at least some broad-leaved trees where the larvae feed on species such as oak (Quercus robur), birches (Betula spp.) and rowan (Sorbus aucuparia).
