Family: Geometridae Checklist Number: 70.101
Colostygia multistrigaria (Haworth, 1809)
Mottled Grey
Although a widespread moth over the Scottish mainland there are just two early March records from South Uist. Its scarcity is probably partly due to poor weather and a lack of light trapping opportunities that early in the year. Searching by torchlight has been suggested as a better method for monitoring this species. The larvae feed on bedstraws (Galium spp.) and cleavers (Galium spp.) and over-winter as pupae.
