There are only two records from Lewis, the most recent in May 2022. AS the larvae feed on deciduous trees such as oak (Quercus) and birch (Betula)it may have a limited distribution in the islands. It has a distinctive single deep scallop on the hindwing and the white moon-shaped markings on the wing give rise to the common name.
