Macaria notata (Linnaeus, 1758)

Peacock Moth

A north-west distribution in Scotland; rare in the Outer Hebrides with just three recent records from South Uist. The main flight period is May to July in broadleaved woodland. The larval food-plant is birches (Betula spp.).
