Crambus pratella  (Linnaeus, 1758)

Scarce Grass-veneer

As the common name suggests, this is a generally ellusive species and rare to north-west Scotland. Like most Cranbids it's habitat is grassland. The adults are on the wing from late May through to August. Rather similar to Crambus lathoniellus, but this is smaller and has a narrower longitudinal streak. Thanks to John Kemp's sharp eyes for identifying this species in among my Crambus lathoniellus.
