Poecilocampa populi (Linnaeus, 1758)
December Moth
The first Outer Hebridean example was light-trapped on South Uist on 8 December 2023. It normally flies from late October to December and could already have been present on the islands but over-looked due to a paucity of suitable winter trapping weather. The species over-winters as an egg. The larval food plants include a wide range of deciduous trees.
