Ypsolopha parenthesella (Linnaeus, 1761)

White-shouldered Ochre

A variable species in terms of colour and wing-pattern. Adults are on the wing in September and October, and are attracted to light. The larvae feed on a range of tree-species, including oak (Quercus), hazel (Corylus avellana), silver birch (Betula pendula) and hawthorn (Crataegus monogyna). Another species on the north-western edge of its range. First recorded from Lewis, Outer Hebrides in 2023.
