Acleris sparsana ([Denis & Schiffermüller], 1775)
Lead-coloured Tortrix
Fresh specimens have a greyish ground colour with variable additional markings, which can be quite subtle. Worn specimens are more difficult to identify. Widespread in England and Wales, more sporadic further north. First recorded in the Outer Hebrides in 2024, a north-western outpost. The flight period is from August through to October. The larvae feed on beech (Fagus sylvatica) and sycamore (Acer pseudoplatanus).
