Swammerdamia caesiella (Hübner, 1796)

Birch Drab

Infrequently recorded in Scotland and rare towards the north and west. There are nine records for the Outer Hebrides, all from one site. Some were recorded as adults, others as larvae during September in webs on the upper-side of birch leaves. The webs can be numerous and are especially noticeable when mist or light rain adheres to them.
