Epirrita autumnata (Borkhausen, 1794)
Autumnal Moth
Common throughout most of Britain but rare in the Outer Hebrides. Just one record from South Uist in October 2017. On the wing from October to November but readily confused with similar species. The larvae feed on trees and shrubs such is alder (Alnus glutinosa) and birches (Betula spp.).
