Philedone gerningana  ([Denis & Schiffermüller], 1775)

Northern Reveller

A scarce species in Scotland with just two records for the Outer Hebrides, both from St. Kilda. The first in 1959, mentioned in a paper by Mark Young et al. (2010: 105-118); the second in July 2022. An upland species of moorland and bogs. The flight period is from July to September. The larvae feed on moorland sub-shrubs and herbaceous plants such as thrift (Armeria maritima) and crowberry (Empetrum nigrum).
