Catoptria margaritella  ([Denis & Schiffermüller], 1775)

Pearl-banded Grass-moth

Common and widespread across the archipelago. Found on damp moorland during July and August. Easily identified by the broad white stripe down the wings. The larvae feed on mosses and grasses including common cottongrass (Eriophorum vaginatum).
