Phylloporia bistrigella (Haworth, 1828)

A tiny 3-4mm long black and white micro-moth. There is just one record of an adult which was netted in an area of silver birch (Betula pendula) on South Uist in July 2024. In August 2025 from Harris, a larval mine was found in a birch leaf. Birch (Betula spp.) is the larval food-plant. There is an earlier record from Lewis in Waterston (1981).
