Achlya flavicornis  (Linnaeus, 1758)

Yellow Horned

This striking early flying species was first recorded from Lewis in March 2022. Four examples have now also appeared on South Uist.  Subspecies scotia is larger, darker and more heavily marked than those in England. A species of woodland, heath and moorland where both silver and downy birch (Betula pendula) and (B. pubescens) occur.
