Family: Geometridae Checklist Number: 70.200
Acasis viretata (Hübner, [1799])
Yellow-barred Brindle
The first record for VC110 was attracted to the light of a moth-trap on South Uist in May 2025. However, rather than enter the trap it sat on the window of an adjacent car and was only noticed when the car was started later. This was followed by a rapid potting of the specimen. The species has increased in recent times and is present over much of Scotland in woodlands, hedgerows and gardens during April to June and again in August. The larval foodplants include holly (Ilex aquifolium), ivy (Hedera helix), wild privet (Ligustrum vulgare) and dogwood (Cornus sanguinea).
