Family: Depressariidae Checklist Number: 32.029
Agonopterix umbellana (Fabricius, 1794)
Gorse Buff
A scarce species in Scotland with most records around the Aberdeenshire coast and coastal, north of the Solway Estuary. The first record for the Outer Hebrides was light trapped in Stornoway in July 2025. It can be found in coastal areas where the foodplant grows, from August to May having overwintered. As the common name suggests the main foodplant is common gorse (Ulex europaeus).
